Introduction to Linocut Printing
Discover the joy of linocut printing in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop. You’ll learn all the fundamental techniques needed to create your own beautiful relief prints.
What You’ll Learn
We’ll start with the basics of designing for linocut, then move on to:
- How to transfer your design onto lino
- Safe and effective lino cutting techniques
- Understanding positive and negative space
- Mixing and applying printing ink
- Hand-printing your design
- Troubleshooting common issues
- Creating multiple colour layers (if time allows)
Your Day
The workshop runs from 10 AM to 4 PM with a relaxed pace. We’ll start with an introduction and design session, break for lunch around 1 PM (bring your own or visit a nearby cafe), then spend the afternoon cutting and printing.
By the end of the day, you’ll have created multiple prints of your own design to take home, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue printmaking at home if you wish.
Small Groups
I keep workshop sizes small (maximum 6 people) to ensure everyone gets plenty of individual attention and support. This creates a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where you can really explore the process.
Studio Location
The workshop takes place in my fully-equipped printmaking studio in Yorkshire. The space is warm, accessible, and has everything you need. Free parking is available nearby.
